On a 2002 Honda Accord, what does it mean if the SRS light stays on on the dashboard display?

My manual does not tell me anything useful and would like to avoid waiting at the dealership if possible.|||Do not, i repeat do not let anyone touch your vehicle that is not experienced in airbags and supplemental restraint systems. For the safety of yourself and your passenger. I am an experienced airbag remover and installer. If i can be of any assistance just let me know. Do not attempt to work on or analyze any components of the system until battery has been disconnected and a few minutes have passed by due to back up power in the modules that can deploy the airbag unit and cause bodily injury. The light is an indication of a malfunction and not always necessarily a sign that airbag is inoperable. Could be many explanations depending on certain factors and i strongly suggest a credible experienced person check your car out.|||You have an issue with the air bag system. If you want to avoid the dealer then you will have to see a good Auto Electrician as they will have the gear to clear the code or atleast tell you what is required to repair it.|||It means there is a problem in the supplemental restraint system (airbag, seat belts...) As long as that light is on the Airbags are NOT working! You don,t need to go to the dealer .Most good repair shops can work on them. Good luck.
