How come highschool newspapers on tv are srs bsns?

I was on the highschool newspaper, and it was NEVER as serious as the ones on TV. How come they always make newspaper team this thrilling exciting sexy difficult ground-breaking amazingly cool thing when in reality we post maybe 2 or 3 issues a year about band awards and sports trophies?|||There's a will, there's a way...
